Web app for selecting low-noise road surfaces

QuietPaveCheck is a data-driven web application that supports cantons, cities, and municipalities in selecting noise-optimized road surfaces. The goal is to enable informed decisions regarding noise reduction and the lifespan of various types of surfaces. Extensive measurement data and AI-supported forecasts are used to determine which surfaces offer the best long-term combination of noise reduction and cost-effectiveness.

The application takes into account central influencing factors such as traffic volume, climatic conditions, and mechanical stress. Based on this, it is possible to make statements about how different surfaces acoustically develop over the years and which maintenance strategies are sensible.

The data basis of QuietPave Check is based on over 8,000 kilometers of CPX measurements conducted in Switzerland. Additionally, the system provides acoustic forecasts and cost assessments to support sustainable decisions in road maintenance.

The tool was developed with the support of the Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU) and is publicly available free of charge. Registration is possible directly through the BAFU.
