Grip

Grip is a safety-relevant success parameter and is measured during acceptance and periodic control.

Measuring Methods
  • Pendulum test (SRT): pointwise testing with a standardized pendulum.
  • SKM trailer: dynamic measurement over longer sections; practical in operation.
Evaluation

The requirements are defined in VSS 40 525 and vary depending on the type of road and traffic load.
Sufficient grip prevents aquaplaning and contributes to traffic safety without impairing the acoustic effect.
In the long term, it significantly depends on the polishing resistance of the stones and the texture homogeneity.
